All Lewiston Public School fourth-graders are learning this month how to prepare a healthy snack they can make at home.
The food services managers at each elementary school are creating a healthy snack recipe to share with the students and then demonstrating how to make the healthy snack in their school. Each fourth-grade class is participating in this special event to learn to prepare healthy foods, and at the same time, taste their own creations.
The McMahon Elementary School food-service team has decided to create banana and strawberry fruit smoothies, and the Farwell Elementary School team is creating fresh fruit parfaits. All students participating in the healthy snack demonstrations enjoy a healthy snack at school with their peers and have a healthy snack recipe to take home.
