Children at Martel Elementary School have enjoyed protection from the elements this year, thanks to students in Mario Pascarelli’s Trades Career Cluster at Lewiston Regional Technical Center. They built a roof over the ramp and stairway access to the portable classroom. Before starting construction in the fall, the LRTC students and their teacher came to both fifth-grade classes housed in the portable to explain the project. Students who participated feel it was a success. “The roof holds, and no water leaks,” said Josh Smith, center. Working with him are Kegan Betcher, left, and Mark Smith.
