WILTON – An investigation into two incidents on Davis Court has led police officers to charge a Chesterville man with burglary while they continue to interview victims and witnesses for other suspects who may have been involved.

Elmer Norton, 22, of Chesterville was arrested on charges of burglary and a violation of protection from abuse order April 20 by Officer Josh King. He is being held at Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington.

The charge stems from two incidents, the first, on March 30 when police responded to a burglary on Davis Court. Someone had kicked a front door open and stole items, including a computer table, Dell laptop, clothing, food, medication, baseball bats and caps, a machete and jewelry, police Chief Dennis Brown said in a statement.

An investigation by Officers Rick Billian and Tim Coombs led to Norton’s arrest. Some of the stolen property was recovered from another address on Davis Court, he said.

In a second incident on April 14, a 2001 Yamaha Big Bear ATV was taken from 4 Davis Court. Valued at $2,500, the ATV was later recovered behind a vacant home on Davis Court but not before it was damaged and the front winch, back seat and rack removed. The removed items were later recovered at a residence on Davis Court, he said.

Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information about either incident to call the Wilton Police Department at 645-3876.
