LITCHFIELD – Two Lewiston teens escaped serious injury Sunday after the ATV they were driving was hit broadside by a Jeep.
Trooper Thomas Pappas with the Maine State Police said that neither the ATV driver, Randy Doggett, or his passenger, Kylie Brochu, both 18 and from Lewiston, suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the 3:20 p.m. crash.
According to Pappas, the Jeep Cherokee driven by Nathaniel Dupuis, 37, of Richmond, was eastbound on Route 197 when the ATV driven by Doggett pulled out in front of the vehicle from Ricker Lane, a driveway leading to the residence Doggett and Brochu were coming from. Pappas estimated that the Jeep was traveling about 35 miles per hour.
Doggett was thrown from the ATV and taken to Central Maine Medical Center by medical helicopter, while Brochu was moved to the same hospital by ambulance. Each was treated and released.
Route 197 was down to one lane for about 20 minutes.
