DOVER-FOXCROFT (AP) – The former police chief in Milo has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting his estranged wife.

Michael Poulin’s lawyer entered his client’s plea by mail in Dover-Foxcroft District Court and requested a jury trial.

The 53-year-old Poulin resigned as chief earlier this month following his suspension by the board of selectmen.

Poulin, a 30-year police veteran, was charged last month with assault after he allegedly grabbed Elaine Poulin and pinned her against a wall in her business.
