LEWISTON – Kenneth M. Smith, 87, formerly of Watertown, Mass., died at Montello Manor on April 27, after a prolonged illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Arlington, Mass., the son of Wilfred M. and Martha P. (Hancock) Smith.
He worked for many years as a machinist. He enjoyed crosswords, walking, exercise, fixing things and puttering and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Joanne F. Welch and husband, Gerard, of Lewiston; grandchildren, Joshua M. Welch and wife, Melissa, of Durham and Jeannette L. Welch of Lisbon Falls; and great-granddaughters, Brianna and Aleisha Welch of Durham.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Doris F. Smith.
The family wishes to thank Montello Manor and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their wonderful care of Kenneth.
