PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A 47-year-old man has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland to 20 years in prison followed by lifelong probation for transporting and possessing child pornography.
Jon Hughes, formerly of Isle au Haut, pleaded guilty in October and was sentenced Tuesday by Judge D. Brock Hornby.
According to court records, Hughes coerced a 13-year-old girl under his legal guardianship to take sexually explicit photos of herself in 2005. Two years later, while posing as a computer hacker, he sent links to some of the photos to two of the girl’s classmates.
In an interview with detectives, Hughes later admitted secretly videotaping the girl in the bathroom of their home and also admitted possessing child pornography on his computer.
