NEWRY (AP) – The Sunday River Resort in Newry is playing host to hundreds of international travel buyers looking at opportunities across New England.

Nearly 350 delegates from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan and China were expected to attend the 14th annual Discover New England Tourism Summit, which runs through Wednesday.

The three-day event provides an opportunity for the tourism industry in the six-state region to meet one-on-one with key decision makers selling U.S. vacations.

Pat Eltman, director of the Maine Office of Tourism, says four million visitors come to New England each year from the United Kingdom alone.
