There are two contested SAD 36 Board of Directors races in Livermore Falls and no contested races in Livermore.
Elections for both school and municipal officials will be held Tuesday, June 9, at the respective town offices. Livermore Falls’ polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Livermore’s will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Both incumbent SAD 36 Livermore Falls school directors, Mac Haynes and Fred Nadeau, will be challenged by Katie Castonguay, to fill two open three-year terms on the school board.
A second SAD 36 contest race in Livermore Falls involves two newcomers running for a one-year vacant seat on the board.
Veronica Pillsbury and Jennifer Pooler will vie for that seat. Selectmen appointed Pooler on April 21 to serve until the election to fill the seat formerly held by Rhonda Drake, who resigned recently.
Incumbent Selectman Louise Chabot is uncontested for a three-year term on the Livermore Falls Board of Selectmen. Newcomer Alphonso Barker is also unchallenged for a two-year term.
No one took out nomination papers for a one-year term vacated by Selectman Ernie Souther on March 30, Town Clerk Kristal Flagg said.
If people do write in a name for someone to fill the position, they need to make sure they write the name and check the box beside it, Flagg said.
In Livermore, incumbent Selectpersons Grace Jacques is uncontested for a three-year term and Wayne Timberlake is unchallenged for a two-year term.
Incumbent SAD 36 school director Cindy Young and newcomer Diane Gould are unchallenged for two, three-year terms.
