PORTLAND (AP) – The Maine island community of Frenchboro will have a worldwide audience when it’s profiled on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
Frenchboro, which is located about seven miles off Mount Desert Island, will be featured in a show segment Wednesday.
The Bangor Daily News said a production crew visited the island last month to learn about the island’s school, history and lobstering tradition. About 30 of the island’s 40 or so residents gathered a few days later at the school to be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey through an online videoconferencing service.
According to the show’s Web site, the same program will have a segment on the Bunny Ranch brothel in Nevada.
