DENVER (AP) – Colorado Rockies outfielder Brad Hawpe has a bruise on the back of his neck after he was hit by a pickoff throw, but he will be in uniform for Tuesday night’s game against the Padres.
Hawpe was taken from the field in a cart with a brace around his neck after San Diego catcher Nick Hundley’s throw to second base hit him in the sixth inning Monday night.
The Rockies say a CT scan of Hawpe’s neck was negative and he was released from Rose Medical Center in Denver on Monday night. He is day-to-day.
Hawpe is hitting .328 with two home runs this season.
