RUMFORD – Funeral services for Herman W. Abbott were conducted Saturday at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, with Daniel Abbott officiating. Music included “Angels We Have Heard on High” and a special music selection “Wayfaring Stranger” was sung by Monica Wood. Readings from Ecclesiastics was given by Millie Cosner, Psalm 23 was given by Diane Lane and Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals was given by David Lane. Words of remembrance were given by Christine Abbott, John Ellingwood, Jr. and David Lane. Committal services were at West Ellis Cemetery, Rumford and were conducted by Daniel Abbott with the song “I’ll Fly Away” sung by Monica Wood, the poem “Do Not Grieve” was read by Christine Abbott and “taps” was played by Daniel Abbott. Pallbearers were David Bean, Jason McPherson, Billy McPherson, Johnny McPherson, Bobby McPherson and Danny McPherson. A reception followed at the family home on the Whippoorwill Road in Rumford Point.
