EASTPORT (AP) – Officials are celebrating the arrival of a cargo ship delivering 20 sets of wind turbine blades to Eastport for the 60-megawatt Rollins Wind Project in northern Maine.

Officials from project developer First Wind are joining community leaders at the Eastport Port Authority on Thursday to mark the shipment’s arrival and laud wind turbines as a source of clean, renewable power.

The 20 sets of blades will be transported to the project site in Lincoln, Burlington, Lee, Winn and Mattawamkeag. The project will consist of 40 turbines that will generate enough energy to meet the needs of more than 23,000 homes.
