Girardi ejected against Red Sox
NEW YORK (AP) – Joe Girardi has failed to make it to the end of his team’s first game against the Boston Red Sox at the new Yankee Stadium.
Girardi was ejected by plate umpire Jerry Meals with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning Monday night when he came out and argued following a called third strike against Derek Jeter.
An inning earlier, Girardi had yelled from the New York Yankees dugout at Boston first-base coach Tim Bogar while Phil Hughes was pitching to Kevin Youkilis.
Girardi was ejected for the eighth time in his career, the fifth time since he became a manager. It was his third ejection as Yankees manager, his first this season.
