A 17-pound togue, too large for the fisherman’s net, was caught Saturday in Lake Auburn by Durwood Russell of Sabattus. The fish, which measured 33 inches long and 20 inches in girth, put up a 45-minute battle before Russell was able to bring it alongside and have a fellow angler scoop it up for him. Russell was trolling off Pine Point, using sewn bate and heavy spoons.

In a move related directly to economic factors, the Maine Secondary Schools Principal’s Association decided this week to move the site of the Maine schoolboy hockey playoffs from Lewiston’s Central Maine Youth Center to the Cumberland County Civic Center and Orono’s Alfond Arena.
The decision will put the Maine Interscholastic Hockey League (Class A) and the Southern Maine Interscholastic Hockey League (Class C) playoffs in Portland. The Maine Schoolboy Hockey Association (Class B) playoffs will be held at the University of Maine-Orono.
The CMYC has been the location of the high school hockey playoffs since March of 1980.
