RUMFORD – Mark A. Fowler Sr., 50, of Franklin Street in Rumford, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 30.

He was born in Memphis, Tenn., on June 10, 1958, a son of Orville J. and Mae Dean (Bell) Fowler.

He served in the U.S. Air National Guard.

He was employed for many years with Fowler and Sons Contracting Co. in Michigan.

He moved to Maine in the late 1980s and was employed as a taxi driver with Courtesy Cab Co.

He enjoyed gardening, writing song lyrics, cooking and fishing.

Surviving are his companion, Linda Cayer Smith of Rumford; his mother, Mae Fowler of Belleville, Mich.; sons, Mark A. Fowler II of Georgia, and Maxwell A. Fowler of Lewiston; a daughter, Amanda M. Spitzer and husband, James, of Rumford; a brother, Tim Fowler, and a sister, Helen Perez, both of Belleville, Mich.; five grandchildren, Zavery Fowler, Minnie Fowler, Zoe Crump, Maxwell Spitzer and Kainen Fowler; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Orville; a brother, Ray Fowler; two sisters, Rachel and Mary; and his dude, Bandit.
