“Great Teachers Make Great Public Schools,” the National Education Association’s standing tagline, speaks to the educators who encourage each child to perform to the best of their ability and to strive to make their dream a reality.
Society is faced with many issues, and children are coming to school with concerns for their families and the future. Educators provide a safe and nurturing environment while presenting a curriculum that will enable our youth to be productive members of our community.
Schools offer many extracurricular opportunities such as afterschool sports, yearbook and art club, and assistance with academics. Advisers provide a structure that embraces a child’s talents and willingness to participate.
May 5 is a day for remembering an educator who has made a difference in your life or your child’s. E-mailing or writing a note to that person is one way to show support for public education and the educators of the community.
