BANGOR (AP) – A former Glenburn selectman and co-owner of a home child care business has been sentenced to five years in jail with all but four months suspended after pleading guilty to sex charges.

The Bangor Daily News reports that Ronald Earl Tewhey, 49, also was sentenced to six years of probation for molesting a 10-year-old girl who was enrolled at the day care center 4 years ago and a 17-year-old female relative.

Shortly before being sentenced Friday in Penobscot County Superior Court, Tewhey pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual contact and one count of unlawful sexual touching.
