Kiwanis donates baby safety items
NORWAY – Western Maine Health Director of Development and Community Relations Barbara A. Allen accepted a donation of baby safety bags from the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club on April 16.
The donation of the bags, which included a water temperature safety rubber duck toy, outlet plugs and an emergency contacts sticker, as well as pamphlets on sun safety, car seat safety, shaken baby syndrome and other tips, was part of the Kiwanis Young Children: Priority One initiative in cooperation with Tufts Medical Center.
The initiative is an ongoing service program of Kiwanis International addressing the needs of young children. Kiwanis clubs are encouraged to carry out at least two projects a calendar year.
The local Kiwanis group approached organizations for information and donations and provided 100 bags to Allen to be given to the Stephens Memorial Hospital Family Birthplace for distribution to new parents.
