FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue High School will reopen for classes Friday after a day-long closure on Thursday due to insufficient water, David Leavitt, SAD 9 director of facilities said.

The wells were extremely low and the school lost water entirely which caused the closing of the school on Thursday, he said.

The water shortage was caused by a pipe that had come apart, causing water to be pumped onto the ground instead of into the wells. Since being fixed, the school’s wells have been refilled. The water was also tested to ensure its safe for consumption.

The school started experiencing problems earlier in the week. Brief water outages eventually lead to a complete loss of water, Leavitt said.
