LEWISTON – Roy I. Snow, 87, passed away at Central Maine Medical Center on May 10, after a brief illness.

He was born in Brockton, Mass., July 22, 1921, the son of Roy Arthur Snow and Josephine Sophia Snow. He was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1938.

Roy went on to serve in the U.S. Army for two years and then to Officer Candidate School in the U.S. Air Force, where he served an additional three years attaining the rank of captain. He served in the European Theatre Normandy; Central Europe Air Offensive over Europe; and African Middle Eastern Theatre.

When he returned to Maine and married his wife, Gertrude, in 1947, they began an electrical contracting firm, Roy I. Snow Inc., which they ran together for 57 years, until their retirement in December 2004. He was a devoted family man, avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his camp in Turner.

He was a member of St. Philips Church in Auburn and for many years belonged to Martindale Country Club, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Chamber of Commerce, A/L Business Association, American Legion and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude; his daughter, Colleen of Waltham, Mass.; his son, Dan and wife, Debbie, of Lewiston; his daughter, Terri-Lee Seeley and her husband, Don, of Minot; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert and his wife, Sharon, of Florida; and two sisters, Barbara Hurd and her husband, George, of New York, and Muriel Snow of Quincy, Mass.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Genevieve Clark.
