BETHEL – A local woman was helicoptered to a Lewiston hospital after apparently suffering a heart attack while swimming at the Bethel Inn’s pool, a spokesman for the Inn said.

The woman, who is in her late 50s, was swimming with friends this morning when they discovered her floating face down.

She had been in the pool only a couple of minutes.

Her friends attempted to revive her using CPR and notified the Inn’s staff, who called 911, said Allen Connors, general manager.

LifeFlight of Maine arrived at the scene and flew the woman to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

The woman had not regained consciousness by the time she left the Inn, he said.
