BATH – Emily Grund belted a two-run double in the seventh inning to lift Edward Little to a 6-4 victory over Morse in a KVAC softball tilt.

Jena Dubois and Megan Hussar each smashed RBI triples for the Eddies (6-3), while Miranda Martin earned the mound win.

Lauren Hickston led the Shipbuilders (1-8) with two hits in the game, while Meagan Hennessey went the distance and took the loss.

Oxford Hills 7, Brunswick 0

BRUNSWICK – Kristy Jurczak struck out 12 batters in seven innings of one-hit softball as Oxford Hills hustled to a 7-0 shutout over Brunswick in a KVAC matchup Wednesday.

Brooke Ladd led the Vikings (7-2) with three hits and three RBIs, while veteran catcher Mindy Rugg belted two hits. After jumping out to a 3-0 advantage in the first frame, Oxford Hills added four insurance runs in the fifth.

Jessica Russell took the loss after working the first three innings.

Leavitt 18, Lewiston 5

LEWISTON – Tori Zupanzic smacked a two-run double in the fourth inning to help lead Leavitt to a dominating 18-5 win over Lewiston Wednesday afternoon.

Zupanzic finished the contest with two doubles and a base hit, while Megan Miller collected a pair of singles for the Hornets (4-5) win. Adrie Newton earned the win.

For the Blue Devils (0-9), Courtney Vallee had two hits and three RBIs on the day, while Lyndsay Smith hit a double and later scored on a passed-ball.

Oak Hill 7, Gardiner 6

WALES – Lauren Hall belted an RBI double in the sixth inning to plate Becca Roberts and lift Oak Hill to a 7-6 victory over Gardiner in a hard-fought softball matchup Wednesday.

Hall also earned the mound win for the Raiders (5-3), striking out four batters in five innings.

Hall and Roberts led Oak Hill’s offensive effort, as well. The two combined for five hits and six RBIs in a well-balanced attack.

Hannah Lawrence went the distance for Gardiner (4-4) and suffered the loss.

St. Dom’s 19, OOB 1

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Lindsey Nance struck out six batters and received more than adequate run support as St. Dom’s unloaded a 19-1 pounding on Old Orchard Beach.

Erynne Landry led the mighty Saints (6-1) with three hits and three RBIs, while Mary Lewis belted two. Mary Caron also contributed with a solo home run, while Erynne Landry ripped a triple.

Jay 1, Monmouth 0

MONMOUTH – Beth Moore scored the only run of the contest in the third inning after Emily Boivin bunted her in, giving Jay the 1-0 win over Monmouth Wednesday afternoon.

Both teams pitchers kept the batters off-balance and frustrated throughout the contest. Alexis Smith earned the win, striking our five batters in the process. And despite taking the loss, Reen Kahl had a solid performance on the mound, fanning 13 batters.

Madison 11, Lisbon 5

MADISON – Madison capitalized on scattered hits and walks to edge past Lisbon and post an 11-5 victory in softball action Wednesday.

Natalie Michaud started it off in the first inning scoring on a fielder’s choice after making it to first on a walk, went on a sacrifice bunt, and made it to third on a passed-ball. Kayla Belanger was the only multiple hitter for Madison (3-6), with two singles.

The Greyhounds (2-6) were led by Crystal Ingersol with three hits, and Sam Purcell and Brooke Lawrence each with two.

G-NG 3, Greely 0

GRAY – Catcher Abby Ryan’s two-run single gave Gray-New Gloucester some breathing room in the fifth inning as the Patriots avoided Greely with a 3-0 victory in a softball game Wednesday.

The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as pitcher Laura Getchell kept the Rangers quiet.

She struck out 11 batters, walked three and held Greely to three hits. The Patriots (8-2) used eight hits to stop the Rangers.

For G-NG, Rachel Clement doubled and Morgan Wilson went 2-for-3.

Telstar 16, Winthrop 0

WINTHROP – Kayla Merrill slung a one-hitter and struck out 10 batters as Telstar shut down Winthrop, 16-0.

Merrill had a strong performance behind the plate, as well, belting out a bases-clearing triple.

T.J. Cowin ended the day with a pair of hits and an RBI double. Whitney Mills and Candace Hall each had two hits a piece in the win.

Carrabec 10, Dirigo 9

DIXFIELD – Carrabec exploded for seven runs on four hits in the third inning, propelling them to a 10-9 win over Dirigo Wednesday in softball.

For the Dirigo effort, senior captain Kayla Chiasson hit a two-run triple.
