FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is starting a new Business Breakfast Series beginning with one planned for 7 a.m. May 27 at the Comfort Inn & Suites.

Speaker Matthew Jacobs, president and CEO of Maine & Co., a non-profit business firm responsible for attracting NotifyMD to Farmington, will address “how Maine can compete for jobs and businesses.”

Under Jacobs’ leadership since 2006, Maine & Co. has recruited several major companies to Maine including NotifyMD, athenahealth and Boston Financial Data Services. These companies, combined, will hire more than 1,500 new employees.

Jacobs recently announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in Maine’s gubernatorial race. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and holds an master’s of business administration from Chapman University. A pilot in the U.S. Air Force, he served in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Jacobs had over 3,000 hours of flight time, primarily in command of the C-130 Hercules.

This month’s Business Breakfast Series is sponsored by Franklin Savings Bank and is open to the public.
