WINTHROP – A Litchfield woman was killed Thursday morning after her car collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 202.

Police said Jacqueline Jewell, 61, died at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston as a result of injuries suffered in the 11:30 a.m. crash.

Jewell was driving west on Route 202, near Fast Eddie’s Drive-in Restaurant, when her 4-door Hyundai collided with the flatbed traveling in the opposite direction, police said.

The tractor-trailer was driven by Leslie Fournier, 51, of Sumner, who was operating the truck for WD Matthews Machinery of Auburn.

Police said Fournier was not seriously hurt. Jewell, trapped inside the wreckage of her vehicle, was freed by rescue crews and taken to the Lewiston hospital.

Winthrop police reconstructed the crash and were continuing to investigate Thursday night.
