SOUTH PARIS – Ina Helen Newell, 79, of Oxford died Thursday, May 14, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
She was born in Baltimore, Md., Jan. 1, 1930, the daughter of Carl and Alma Romppanen Wilson. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School and for most of her life was a homemaker.
On Aug. 7, 1951, she married James Newell, who died July 15, 1987. She enjoyed reading and her flower gardens, and while her husband was in the military she traveled quite a bit with him.
Survivors include her children, Steve Newell and his companion, Bea Allen, of South Paris, Jo-Ann Smith and her companion, Tom Radcliff, of Norway, Larry Newell of Harrison, Doug Newell and his wife, Marylin, of Hebron and Laura Lorenzen and her husband, Edward, of Oxford; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, John; daughter, Karen; a grandchild, Niki; and her brother, Tauno Wilson.
