LEWISTON – Police are continuing their investigation into the events that led up to a Saturday night fight that left one man in a medically induced coma and a 17-year-old boy arrested.

Lewiston Police Lt. Mark Watson said that the Saturday night incident remains under investigation. At this point, police are not releasing the name of the 17-year-old Lewiston male charged with aggravated assault on Sunday morning following the Saturday night beating of Troy Haydon, 41, of Lewiston. The Sun Journal initially reported Haydon’s age as 30.

Haydon was found bleeding badly from the face after police were called at 11:15 to the intersection of Maple and Knox streets. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center where we was later placed in a medically-induced coma due to the extent of his injuries.

A nursing supervisor at CMMC would not release any information about Haydon or his condition Monday night.

Watson said that initial reports indicate that the assault started off as a verbal altercation between Haydon and the teen that escalated into a physical fight. At this point, police are not saying whether or not the boy is still in custody or if he will be charged as an adult.
