PRESQUE ISLE (AP) – Northern Maine Regional Airport in Presque Isle is getting $2.5 million in federal stimulus money to extend its parallel taxiway.

The announcement Tuesday by Rep. Mike Michaud said the project will provide the airport with a full parallel taxiway, improving operational safety and efficiency.

The Maine Democrat said the grant, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will create jobs and improve infrastructure, providing a long-term economic development benefit for the area.
