ORONO (AP) – Gov. John Baldacci says his son Jack plans to follow in his father’s footsteps and attend the University of Maine.

The governor revealed his son’s college choice last week when he spoke at the first Maine Windblade Challenge at the UMaine Field house in Orono.

John Baldacci, a Bangor native, graduated from the university in 1986 with a degree in history.

The Bangor Daily News said the governor joked that expectations will be slightly higher for his and Karen Baldacci’s only child than they were for him.

The governor said he hopes his son won’t do what he did when he came to the university, adding that “I was on the dean’s other list.”
