PARIS – The Tri-Town Optimist Club of Mechanic Falls, Poland and Minot is helping form a new club in the Oxford Hills area.
There will be a free informational lunch at noon Friday, May 22, at Market Square Restaurant, Paris.
The new club will focus on helping the youth of the community by sponsoring local events and programs on recreation, education and safety. The club will choose whatever projects if feels will help the community.
Optimist Clubs do such projects as oratorical and essay contests, bike safety, childhood cancer campaigns, youth clubs in the schools and sports leagues and events under the Tri-Star Sports Programs.
It takes 25 charter members to form the new club, and the effort has reached half way. The motto of Optimist clubs is “Bringing Out the Best in Youth.”
