RUMFORD – Following a public hearing for the annual town budget at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 21, in the town hall auditorium, selectmen will convene their regular board meeting by 7 p.m.

Among the agenda items, are discussions about the future of the River Valley Technology Center and the years-long beaver problem off Sunnyside Terrace and Prospect Avenue that is causing standing-water mosquito-breeding grounds in a wetland near homes.

Additional discussion will center on the mowing of steep banking in the Strathglass Park district and a paper road on Strafford Avenue that is causing difficulties for property owners.

Among a lengthy list of other topics, are:

• Approvals of bids for surveyor services and a licensed forester, and town hall auditorium acoustics.

• A request by police Chief Stacy Carter to sell town property or equipment.

• A request to remove a handicapped parking space designation on Franklin Street.

• A request for overnight parking from business Mr. and Mrs. Sausage.

• Discussion of a revised personnel policy for non-union employees.

Additionally, four executive sessions are scheduled to discuss a U.S. Department of Agriculture loan request with Town Manager Len Greaney and loan requesters; and three real estate matters with Greaney, town attorney Thomas Carey and interested business parties.
