AUBURN – Dorothy B. Howard, 97, died May 20, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, with her loving family watching over her during her two-month illness.

She was born Nov. 1, 1911, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Forest and Elizabeth Bailey.

She worked many years for both Dyer and Hall, and the Lown Shoe Co. For 30 years, she worked as a housekeeper for many families in Auburn, retiring in 1986.

More than anything, she adored her family and watching her great-grandchildren always brought a twinkle to her eye.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Bruce Goddard; her grandchildren, Jennifer Crowell and husband, Phil, and Wendy Taylor and husband, Shane; and five great-grandchildren, Megan and Jonah Crowell, Devyn, Erica and Courtney Taylor.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen W. Howard Jr.; and her son, Allen W. Howard III.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their care and support during her brief illness.
