HERMON (AP) – The Maine, Montreal & Atlantic Railway is seeking the cause of a derailment in Hermon that involved four tanker cars, three containing sulfuric acid and one holding ethanol.
John Schultz, the railroad’s transportation vice president, said none of the cargo leaked as a result of Monday’s accident and crews were working to get all the tankers back on the track.
The Bangor Daily News said Hermon’s fire chief and a crew of two were at the scene with a fire truck and laid hose as a precautionary measure.
The train was headed to Searsport at the time the cars derailed.
