SAD 52 director
Issue: After review, the board accepted the resignation of director Lawrence Hathaway.
The scoop: Elizabeth Briggs Bullard submitted a request to serve in that seat and the board reviewed it.
Up next: The board appointed her to the position until the next municipal election in April 2010.
Culvert bids reviewed
Issue: Several culverts are needed for upcoming summer road work projects.
The scoop: The board reviewed bids, ranging from $11,000 to $14,921.
Up Next: Northland True Value’s offer of 66 culverts for $11,792.40 was approved.
Subdivision request
The Issue: Jason Courbron of Survey Works requested a recommendation to use street construction ordinance section A-4 with respect to phase one of his plans for a subdivision off Lower Street. This would allow no money to be put down with the town instead of acquiring a performance guarantee.
The scoop: The subdivision will be constructed in phases; the initial phase will consist of two lots with a common drive, and the drive must be constructed to street specifications, as it will be extended as a street in the later phases.
Up next: Courbron will go before the Planning Board on Wednesday, June 10, with the selectmen’s recommendations.
Fish Street
The issue: The board reviewed suggestions from Summit Environmental Consulting and Kurt Youland for repair to the embankment and road.
The scoop: Officials want to correct erosion around Fish Street.
Up next: The board decided Youland’s proposal of purchasing additional land from homeowners and relocating the travel way 15 feet away from the existing guardrail and road surface was feasible.
