BETHEL – Dylan Tosir’s third hit of the game tied the game and Aaron McGuinnes followed with an RBI single to drive in the winning run in the sixth inning to lift Mt. Abram to an 8-6 victory over Telstar.

Helped by eight walks and nine errors, Telstar (4-7) took a 6-4 lead after five innings. The Rebels, however, were limited to five hits and never took full advantage of the gifts, leaving 12 runners on base.

Hank O’Connor had two hits for Telstar, while Hank Poulin had a pair of singles for Mt. Abram (7-5).

Winthrop 9, Madison 3

WINTHROP – Easton Morang went 3-for-4 and collected three RBIs to power Winthrop to a 9-3 victory over Madison in MVC baseball action Friday.

Each team plated a pair of runs in the first inning before the Ramblers (8-3) went on a tear in the second.

Winthrop sent 12 batters to the plate in the second inning with Jacob Ward roping a triple and catcher Jacob Conant cracking a double during the six-run rally. Conant also produced three RBIs.

Bulldog’s (4-9) pitcher Ezra Gourley settled down after the second inning, giving up only one hit over the last three innings and retiring the side twice in the loss.

Mt. Abram 8, Telstar 6

Georges Valley 15, Jay 11

JAY – Georges Valley and Jay traded hits and runs before the Buccaneers finally emerged with a 15-11 victory in a slugfest Friday.

The Tigers (2-11) held a 6-3 lead after three innings before the Bucs (5-6) came to life at the plate and piled up 12 runs over the course of the next three innings.

For the Bucs, catcher Larson Platte doubled twice and had a single. Jay’s Zach LaCroix smashed a grand slam. The Tigers actually outhit the Bucs, 14-13.

Greely 13, Poland 9

POLAND – Nate Martin hit a two-run shot in the third inning and Greely turned up the heat with eight runs in the fifth inning to stage a come-from-behind victory over Poland in WMC baseball action Friday.

Kevin Hart led off the fifth inning with a triple for the Rangers (9-2). Ben Walsh singled next, and Pete Stauber singled to plate a run. Sam Stauber belted a double to plate the next two runs for Greely.

The Knights (5-8) took a 9-3 lead in the bottom of the third on a six-run rally. Nick St. Hillaire contributed a two-run single in the frame. And, Matt Brewster had an outstanding day at the plate with four hits.

Oak Hill 9, Mt. View 8

WALES – Brett Turcotte ripped a three-run home run to left-center to rally Oak Hill to a 9-8 victory over pesky Mt. View.

After the Mustangs (0-11) took a 7-6 lead in the sixth, Oak Hill (7-5) responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning when Zach Linnett led off with a double and Ben Rines was hit by a pitch. Turcotte then launched the first pitch he saw of the fence in left-center for the game-winning run.

Isaiah Mills picked up the win in relief for the Raiders. Josh Prue had three hits, including a double, and knocked in four runs.

Boys’ lacrosse

Edward Little 8, Oxford Hills 2

AUBURN – Edward Little (3-7) built a 5-0 lead by halftime and added three more goals in the second half as the Red Eddies dispatched Oxford Hills with an 8-2 victory in a boys’ lacrosse game Friday.

Tom Lynch led EL’s scoring effort, tossing in three goals. Austin Polisky, Tyler Raymond, Cody Meserve, Travis Landry and Christian McCollough each scored a goal. Zack Bennett was EL’s playmaker, collecting three assists.

For the winless Vikings (0-10), Riley Eudsen and Levi Golden each scored a goal.

Oak Hill 8, Mountain Valley 2

WALES – Nick Flaherty scored three goals and Oak Hill shut off Mountain Valley in the second half as the Raiders (4-5) rolled to an 8-2 victory over the Falcons in a boys’ lacrosse game Friday.

By halftime, the Raiders built a 4-2 lead and added another four goals in the second half. Nat Rolston and Drew Janelle each scored two goals, and Travis Dyer added one.

For the Falcons, Kenny Armstrong and Matt Mowatt each scored.
