WALES – Marrissa Caskin raced home on a throwing error with one out in the seventh inning to give Oak Hill a 6-5 victory over Mt. View.
Mt. View (2-10) entered the seventh with a 5-4 lead, but Abby Goulet led off with a double. After getting to third on a passed ball, Becca Belaire bunted her home to tie the game. Caskin, who had reached on a walk, advanced to third on passed balls before scooting home with the game-winner.
Lauren Hall struck out 10 and walked one batter for Oak Hill (6-6).Alexis Bennett hit a pair of triples for Mt. View.
Telstar 6, Mt. Abram 0
BETHEL – Kayla Merrill fired a three-hitter and struck out eight batters to lead Telstar to a 6-0 victory over Mt. Abram.
The Rebels (10-1) were clinging to a 2-0 lead before breaking the game open with three runs in the fifth. Lindsay James highlighted the outburst with a two-run single.
Merrill, T.J. Cowin and Nicena Walker had two hits apiece for Telstar. Molly McCafferty struck out two batters for Mt. Abram (8-4).
Livermore Falls 6, Mountain Valley 1
RUMFORD – Kathrynn Lake and Kathryn Ventrella had three hits apiece to lead Livermore Falls to a 6-1 triumph over Mountain Valley.
Livermore Falls (4-7) scored three runs on five hits in the first inning to take command. The Andies added three insurance runs in the seventh.
Kirstin Rich scored the lone run for the Falcons (5-6) on an error after she reached on a walk and stole second and third.
Kaitlyn Townsend and Lake shared pitching duties for the Andies, while Lindsay Gallant pitched for Mountain Valley.
Fryeburg 15, Yarmouth 0
YARMOUTH – Hannah Hill went 3-for-4 and struck out 10 from the mound to lead Fryeburg to a 15-0 blanking over Yarmouth in WMC softball action Friday.
The Raiders put up two points in the first inning and three in the fourth inning on several Clipper errors for an early 5-0 lead.
Then in the fifth inning, Brylie Walker led off the with a triple to begin a strong offensive frame. Hill followed with a double. And after a walk, Tanya Randall doubled in another two runs.
Yarmouth pitcher Abby Ridge recorded the first of two Clipper hits in the home half of the third inning with a shot to left field.
Gray-New Gloucester 5, Lake Region 2
NAPLES – Junior Laura Getchell tossed her 500th career strikeout as Gray-New Gloucester coasted to a 5-2 victory over Lake Region in WMC softball action Friday.
Getchell enetered the game with 499 career strikeouts and threw for 16 over seven innings. Getchell also singled in two of the fifth inning’s three runs to cement the win.
Morgan Wilson led off the fifth with a walk for the Patriots (10-3). Natalie Tombarelli followed with a bunt hit, and Taylor Damon’s attempted sacrifice bunt induced a throwing error by the Lakers and scored a run. Two batters later, Getchell singled in two runs.
Laura D’Ascanu recorded a pair of singles for Lake Region, and scored both runs in the losing effort.
Greely 8, Poland 1
POLAND – Bryce McEwen went 3-for-4 with a double and Greely used 12 hits to shelve Poland with an 8-1 victory in a softball game Friday.
Greely wasted little time building a 4-1 lead after three innings. Victoria Pisini, Marika Stayte, and Caroline Hamilton each had two hits for the Rangers.
For the Knights, Tessa Mascetta doubled and singled and catcher Molly Rand went 3-for-4.
