Online adventure site of the week: besthike.com
If you are a hiker looking for the best hiking spots, check out besthike.com.
The site’s mission is to “list the best, most memorable hikes, long and short, in the world. Hikes that can change your life.”
Aspiring hikers can find recommended locations in Asia, Africa, Australia, North America, South America and Europe. Those searching the site are encouraged to check out South America’s hikes first, as it is the “most neglected hiking destination.”
Most of the locations are challenging, multi-day adventures. However, the site also includes day hikes, such as the Tongariro Crossing in New Zealand and Zion Narrows in the United States.
Featured locations include facts about the hike (such as how long it is and the amount of time it takes to complete), costs, routes, and other important considerations. The site’s creators also describe, “Why we like this hike,” which includes personalized reasons for enjoying the hiking adventure.
Those viewing the site can also check out photos from different hiking locations.
Besthike.com is a site for those looking for an adventure; the featured hikes are challenging and often dangerous. The Kilimanjaro Marangu Route in Africa, for example, is deadly for some hikers, due to altitude sickness.
There is also a besthike.com blog, where hikers document their experiences.
