HS lecture
AUBURN – The Androscoggin Historical Society has announced the topic of the final program of the year’s lecture series has been changed to “The Settlers versus Col. Josiah Little.” The program will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the High Street Congregational Church.
Local author Douglas I. Hodgkin will speak on the subject. Hodgkin will draw much of his information from his research on Lewiston history published in his book, “Frontier to Industrial City: Lewiston Town Politics, 1768 to 1863.” The talk will include descriptions of incidents throughout what is now Androscoggin County, including Minot, Danville and other towns, as well as Lewiston.
Pomona grange
TOPSHAM – Androscoggin Pomona Grange will be guests of Sagadahoc Pomona at Topsham Grange on Pleasant Street on Wednesday, May 27. Supper will be served at 6 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 7:15. Members of Androscoggin Pomona will fill the offices and the program will be presented by the visiting lecturer. All Pomona grangers and guests are welcome to attend.
Dog obedience
AUBURN – The Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will have a six-week dog obedience class starting Wednesday, May 27. Dogs and puppies must be at least 3 1/2 months old and vaccinated. For more information and to register, call the club’s trainer Diane Harrington at 784-7578.
Danville grange
AUBURN – Danville Junction Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the hall. The Memorial Day program will be presented by Chaplain Jane Gordon. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.
