Peru woman has artwork on exhibit
LEWISTON – The work of June Dragoon is on display at the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center Beeaker Gallery.
Although Dragoon has studied with a number of well-known artists, she is self-taught.
She is constantly learning and striving to improve her technique. She wants viewers to feel as though they are entering into her paintings.
Dragoon said, “Painting gives me a new way of looking at the world.
Color, for me, is the most emotional aspect of painting. It is the reflection of life. I work in a variety of mediums, although the versatility of watercolor to me is magic.”
She enjoys painting New England scenes and florals. Recently she has been commissioned to do several portraits.
She said it has given her a chance to touch people’s lives. Surrounded by family and countryside, she has endless subject matter.
Dragoon has exhibited in many galleries and has paintings in private collections throughout the world. She enjoys alpine skiing, mountain climbing and camping with her family. She lives in West Peru.
Dragoon’s work is on display through June 22 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center’s Beeaker Gallery.
