SOUTH PARIS – One wing of the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris was evacuated early Sunday morning after a hospital bed motor caught fire.

Chief Brad Frost of the South Paris Fire Department said that the small fire was called in just after 8 a.m. He said that no one was injured in the fire, which was contained to just the bed and the one room. No one was injured in the blaze because residents were at breakfast during the time of the fire.

Frost said that blaze started when a member of the home’s maintenance crew went to adjust the bed while cleaning the room. Everyone residing on the C-Wing of the building was evacuated for less than one hour, and fire crews cleared the scene by 9 a.m.
