NORWAY – Anita “Tata” Spydell, 85, formerly of Swain Brook Apartments, and longtime resident of Portland, was reunited with her husband, mother and son, on May 25, 2009 following a brief illness.

She was born in Rumford, a daughter of Fidele and Melina (Gaudet) Gautreau.

Anita graduated from St. Theresa’s Elementary School, and attended Mexico High School, later receiving her diploma in 1942.

She married LeRoy Spydell on June 3, 1946, and together they had two children and celebrated 45 years of marriage.

While living in Portland, she was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Women’s Guild. While living in Rumford, Anita was a communicant of St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

She loved doing needlepoint and furniture re-upholstering. Anita also enjoyed late night crafting with Georgette Beauchesne.

Surviving are a son, Barry Spydell, of Portland; a brother, Rudolph Gautreau of Florida; eight grandchildren, Trisha, Deanna, Shelly, Jaymie, Brian, Tommy, Barry and Janessa; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, LeRoy Spydell in 1991; a son, Stanley Spydell in 2004; and a brother, Armand Gautreau in 1990.
