RUMFORD – Everett E. Child, 85, of Dickvale Road, Peru, passed away on Sunday, May 24, at Rumford Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born in Peru on Oct. 26, 1923, a son of Elmer and Iva (Andrews) Child. He married Addie Mae (Buck) Child on May 7, 1955, in Bethel. Everett attended schools in Peru.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. Everett was employed as a bolter saw operator at Hanover Dowel Co. in Bethel, retiring in 1973.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Addie Buck Child, of Peru; five children, Earline Hoyt and husband, Raymond, of Rumford, Debbie Brann and husband, Steve, of Peru, Debbie Hemingway and husband, Tommy, of Rumford, Elbridge Child and wife, Norma, of Peru, and Dwayne Childs of Peru; two brothers, Robert Child of Turner, and Howard Child and wife, Carrie, of Peru; three sisters, Avis Orino of Mexico, Hazel Vaughn and husband, Richard, of Peru, and Anna Hebert and husband, Harold, of Peru; a sister-in-law, Janet Child of Winthrop; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Ernest Child; and three brothers, Clarence, Ernest and Lawrence Child.
