PARIS – Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant is among five candidates nominated for Maine’s open U.S. marshal post.

Gallant’s name was submitted to President Barack Obama, along with Randall Liberty, sheriff of Kennebec County; Noel March, chief of police for the University of Maine in Orono; Kathryn Spellacy, deputy U.S. marshal for Maine; and David Viles, current U.S. marshal for Maine, according to U.S. Reps. Michael Michaud and Chellie Pingree, both D-Maine.
