AUGUSTA (AP) – The state energy office says the average cash price for heating oil in Maine rose by 2 cents a gallon in the past week, to $2.11.

Actual prices ranged from a low of $1.75 at a dealer in western Maine to a high of $2.35 in the northern part of the state.

The average price for kerosene statewide was $2.55.

Director John Kerry of the Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security said Tuesday the slight increase in heating oil prices may reflect a shift in world markets as traders appear more optimistic about the global economy.
