LIVERMORE FALLS – Nathalie R. McLaughlin, 80, of Livermore Falls, died Tuesday, May 26, at her home, surrounded by her family following a long illness.

She was born in Strickland on Nov. 2, 1928, the daughter of Amedee, Sr. and Edith (Hood) Richard. She was a 1946 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.

On May 4, 1957, she married Clayton E. McLaughlin Sr. at the First Baptist Church in Livermore Falls.

“Nat” was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wilton. Her mother-in-law, Sadie “Nana” McLaughlin, lived with Nat and Clayton from 1986 until her passing on Feb. 28, 2009. Nat had attended the burial for “Nana” and her daughter, Darlene Andersen, on May 17, 2009.

Nat worked for New England Telephone Co. in Bangor, retiring in 1984 after 25 years of service.

She enjoyed collecting frogs and also enjoyed her ceramics shop in Livermore Falls.

She is survived by three daughters, Earlene Barger of Livermore Falls, Ann Parsons and her husband, David, of Hudson, and Patricia Wilson of Orrington; two sons, Clayton McLaughlin Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Sabattus, and Brian McLaughlin and his companion, Martine, of Jay; a sister, Mary Cook and her husband, Vernon, of Livermore Falls; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1996; a sister, Claire Jacques; brothers, Ozzie Richard, Nathan Richard and Amedee Richard Jr.; a daughter, Darlene Andersen, on Oct. 23, 2008; and her mother-in-law, Sadie “Nana” McLaughlin.
