GARDINER – Open Book Players will bring a bevy of Maine children’s books to life during its Reading Rumpus performances Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31.
Books by several local children’s book creators will be featured, including ones by Helen Stevens of Gardiner, Fred Lipp of Whitefield, Lynn Plourde of Winthrop and Kevin Hawkes of Gorham. This readers theater presentation will include a cast of children ranging in ages from 8 to 15 performing side by side.
On Sunday, featured authors and illustrators have been invited to attend and autograph their featured books.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. May 30 and at 2 p.m. May 31 at Johnson Hall in the downtown. For reservations or questions, call Open Book Players artistic director Lucy Rioux at 582-5717 or Johnson Hall at 582-7144. Tickets are $7 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors.
