LISBON – An apparent malfunction at the sewer treatment plant on Monday resulted in a sewage spill on the lawn at the rear of the Summer Street facility.

Town engineer Ryan Leighton said the spill was confined to treatment plant property and did not get to the road or nearby Little River Stream.

A professional septic service was called in to remove the material, the area was cleared and lime was spread.

No further information was available Tuesday night.
