DURHAM – David McKeith, 75, of Durham escaped with a minor injury when his car went out of control and struck a tree at 7:58 a.m. Wednesday on Runaround Pond Road.

McKeith was driving west on Runaround Pond Road toward Pownal when he blacked out, Maine State Police Trooper Mike Chavez said. McKeith’s SUV crossed into the opposite lane, went off the left shoulder and struck a tree.

He suffered a slight injury from the air bag deploying, but he did not require medical attention, Chavez said. He estimated damage to McKeith’s 1999 Subaru Forester at $7,000.
