LEWISTON – Trevar Haefele erupted for seven goals and assisted on four others to lead St. Dom’s to a 15-10 victory over Waynflete in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday in the rain on Bates College’s turf field.

Goalie Cody Rodrigue fought off Waynflete’s late surge to help the Saints hold on. Rodrigue made 12 of his 22 saves in the fourth quarter.

The Saints led 3-0, 7-5 and 12-8 at the quarter breaks.

Tim Day added four goals and three assists, while Ben Adams chipped in with three goals and an assist. Troy Haefele rounded out the scoring for the Saints (6-3).

Waynflete (5-5) outshot St. Dom’s, 38-31. Josiah Baker-Connick led the Flyers with five goals and two assists.

Baseball

Richmond 6, Rangeley 1

RANGELEY – Tim Bradford helped Richmond break the game open with a two-run double in the seventh inning to lead Richmond to a 6-1 victory over previously-unbeaten Rangeley in a baseball game Wednesday between two of the top teams in Western Class D.

Richmond’s Nick Woods and Pat Anthony of Rangeley were engaged in a tight 2-1 pitchers’ duel before the Bobcats (11-2) got three of their five hits in the final inning.

Craig Marshall’s single drove in Alex Morton in the third inning for Rangeley’s lone run. Ross Gordon had two hits for the Lakers (9-1).

Anthony finished with nine strikeouts, while Woods fired a four-hitter for the victory.
