BANGOR (AP) – A Newburgh man has been indicted on drug and alcohol charges in a Maine case tied to the death of a Hampden teenager.

The Penobscot County grand jury on Tuesday indicted 44-year-old Michael Joseph Fortunato on charges of aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs and allowing a minor to possess or consume alcohol.

Police told the Bangor Daily News that the charges stemmed from a March 21 party at Fortunato’s home that 17-year-old Nathan Clark and other juveniles had attended. Fortunato allegedly furnished teenagers with marijuana and prescription muscle relaxants.

A prosecutor said the indictment is not directly connected with the cause of Clark’s death. An autopsy was conducted but officials await results of toxicology tests.
